HUSKY STRUTTERS FORMED IN 2013 IN BELCONNEN, CANBERRA, AUSTRALIA.
T-REX & WOLFIE HAD BEEN COLLABORATING AND WRITING SONGS FOR CLOSE TO A DECADE PRIOR TO MEETING ROBBO.
THE FIRST JAM SESSION FOR THE BOYS WAS FULL OF IDEAS TO CREATE NEW MUSIC FOR THE WORLD TO ROCK ON TO, FOR MANY YEARS TO COME.
THE BAND FIRST MEET AT THE OLD BLACKSUN REHEARSAL STUDIOS
(WHERE WOLFIE WOULD BUILD THE FINAL VALLEY SOUND STUDIOS).

HOW IT BEGAN - WHERE ITS HEADED
FIRST SONGS & LIVE SHOWS
SHORTLY AFTER FORMING, THE 3 CANBERRA LADS PUT THEIR HEADS DOWN AND WORKED HARD & MADE 45 MIN SETLIST. THEY THEN GOT PLAYING THE LOCAL VENUES SUCH AS:
TRANSIT BAR | THE BASEMENT | MAGPIES CLUB.
AFTER PERFECTING A FEW SONGS, SPEAKING WITH A GOOD FRIEND AND FAN OF THE BAND ANDREW MOORE, HUSKY STRUTTERS ENDED UP RECORDING SOME SONGS LIVE AT THE JAM STUDIOS IN BELCO (BLACKSUN REHEARSAL STUDIOS).
LATER THAT YEAR THE GROUP ENDED UP GOING DOWN TO RECORD WITH MR MOORE IN THE NUMBUGGA AREA IN BEGA, NEW SOUTH WALES. THIS WAS THE BEGINING OF RECORDING IN THEIR FIRST PROFESSIONAL RECORDING STUDIO SESSIONS.
BUILDING (MINI) VALLEY SOUND STUDIOS (THE FIRST STUDIO BUILD)
WITH A HEAVY ADDICTION TO ROBBO'S AMAZING DRUMMING AND THE AMOUNT THE BAND NEEDED TO JAM, THE BAND SERIOUSLY NEEDED TO FIND A SPACE ALL OF THEIR OWN.
IN 2013 WOLFIE WAS WORKING IN THE HIGH-END CONSTRUCTION INDUSTRY AS A GLAZIER AND WAS GIVEN THE OPPORTUNITY TO ACCESS MATERIALS TO BUILD A HUSKY STRUTTERS STUDIO INSIDE WOLFIE'S PARENT'S SHED (WHERE THEY LEARNT THAT ASKING FOR FORGIVENESS IS BETTER THAN ASKING FOR PERMISSION... IT WORKED A TREAT).
AT THIS POINT HUSKY STRUTTERS COULD WORK AT A HIGHER VELOCITY AS MUCH AS THEY WANTED, WHICH MEANT THE LEVEL OF SONG-MAKING JUMPED THROUGH THE ROOF.
STUDY & RESEARCH OF SOUND PRODUCTION/ENGINEERING
HUSKY STRUTTERS GOT TO A POINT THOUGH WHERE THEY KNEW THEIR NEXT STEP WAS MORE RECORDINGS AND BOTH ROBBO & WOLFIE JUMPED INTO THE WORLD OF SOUND ENGINEERING AND METHODS OF PRODUCTION TO DEVELOP THE HUSKY STRUTTERS SOUND FURTHER.
AFTER THE FIRST STUDIO SESSION THEY WERE HOOKED! WOLFIE THEN WENT DEEP INTO RESEARCH ON THE INTERNET, VIDEOS AND BLOGS ETC. BOTH ROBBO AND WOLFIE ENROLLED INTO TAFE (CIT) FOR SOUND ENGINEERING. WOLFIE HAD AN OPPORTUNITY TO LAUNCH HIS VERY OWN CONSTRUCTION BUSINESS SO HE DROPPED OUT OF THE COURSE AFTER HE PASSED THE MUSIC THEORY BLOCK. WHEREAS ROBBO CONTINUED ALL THE WAY THROUGH AND ENDED UP WITH A HIGH DISTINCTION IN SOUND ENGINEERING!
BUILDING VALLEY SOUND STUDIOS
WHILE WOLFIE LAUNCHED HIS CONSTRUCTION BUSINESS HE REALISED HE NEEDED MORE SPACE TO CONDUCT HIS WORK AND PUT THE WORD OUT INTO THE CANBERRA SCENE.
WITHIN 10 MINUTES L.FOX (OWNER OF BLACKSUN REHEARSALS) ASKED HIM TO COME CHECK OUT THE EXTRA SPACE HE HAD IN BELCONNEN.
THE CONVERSATION WENT FROM RENTING THE SPACE TO BUYING THE BUSINESS WITHIN 5 MINUTES, AND JUST LIKE THAT WOLFIE SET UP A CONTRACT TO BUY OUT THE BUSINESS.
SINCE TAKING OVER, WOLFIE HAD BUILT A MASSIVE CREATIVE HUB OF CANBERRA IN PLACE OF THE OLD BLACKSUN REHEARSAL STUDIOS, THAT WAS NAMED VALLEY SOUND STUDIOS.
THROUGH INNOVATIVE DESIGN AND A FOCUS ON QUALITY, VALLEY SOUND STUDIOS IS THE HOME TO MULTIPLE JAM ROOMS AND A STATE OF THE ART MUSIC STUDIO FOR HIGH END MUSIC PRODUCTION AND RECORDING.
VALLEY SOUND STUDIOS IS WHERE THE HUSKY STRUTTERS CALLED HOME.
From Bedroom Mixes to Six-Figure Streams
HUSKY STRUTTERS' debut release, No Clicks, introduced the Husky Strutters sound and our first single, “Shook”. Recorded by Andrew Moore at Numbugga Studios in the Bega Shire, it was mixed by Wolfie in his bedroom studio in Palmerston in 2013.
The original CD was mastered at Studios 301 and released that year, with Wolfie remastering it at Valley Sound Studios in 2022.
Our second EP, Out Late, was recorded around 2014–2015 as part of Robbo’s final assessment at CIT in Canberra. Robbo recorded and engineered the sessions, with Wolfie later mixing and mastering the EP at Valley Sound Studios in 2023.
Along the way, we released singles including “Social Distortion”, which passed 100,000 Spotify streams within its first year.
Our self-titled album brought the entire recording process under one roof, with Wolfie recording, engineering, mixing and mastering it at Valley Sound Studios.
The Album Dropped. Then Everything Stopped.
We released our debut album in 2024, but by early 2025 it had been taken down and our tour plans had unravelled. Merch delays, supporting bands withdrawing without enough time to replace them or offering contacts to help fill their spots, and venues changing agreed terms during planning all contributed to the cancellation.
ONLY ONE SHOW WAS PLAYED OUT OF THE 6 NATIONAL SHOWS.
Then our bassist T-REX suffered a workplace injury that severely limited his mobility and left him bedridden for seven months.
To make matters harder, Wolfie’s broken phone triggered account recovery problems, leaving him locked out of several social accounts and our music distribution account for over a year.
In 2026, Wolfie finally regained access and began getting our music back out through his new label, VALLEYWOLF RECORDS, the next evolution of Valley Records.
The Future
Husky Strutters has new merch on the way, alongside plans for a few more singles.
We’ll be livestreaming the whole creative process, from songwriting and recording through to mixing, mastering and release, bringing you along as the music takes shape.
We’re also bringing an EP concept to life that Wolfie has been developing behind the scenes for several years. Two original songs intended for our debut album will get a second life here, with the extra writing and development they needed to feel complete.
Beyond that, we’re planning a Kickstarter campaign and a major launch for a deluxe edition of our debut album, aiming for June 2027. Featuring additional songs, it will be available on vinyl, CD and cassette, with one exclusive track on each format.
Those tracks will stay exclusive unless enough of you ask us to bring them to Spotify.
As part of the campaign, we’re planning access to our Patreon club, where you can explore demos, new song ideas, handwritten notes, stream recordings and extra studio footage recorded just for sharing behind the scenes.
Funds raised will help support production of album two, alongside merch, promotion and live shows. We’re aiming to have the second album ready by December 2027 or January 2028.
